We are a caring church family spreading the Word of God and winning disciples for Jesus Christ!
ATWOOD OTTERBEIN CHURH
A Global Methodist Congregation

ALL ARE WELCOME!
Under the enthusiastic leadership of Pastor David Banning together with his wife, Jackie, our church family's mission is "to spread the Word of God and win disciples for Jesus Christ; connecting ourselves to Jesus, and faithfully living our daily lives in relationship to Him and to each other."

As a Global Methodist congregation, our Vision is to join God in a journey of bringing new life, reconciliation and the presence of Christ to all people, and to help each person reflect the character of Christ.

ABOUT OUR CHURCH
Our welcoming and family-oriented congregation has served the Atwood community for over 145 years. Our present church building is celebrating its 98th year in 2025.
We welcome all God's people regardless of their color, culture, ethnicity or nationality to our informal services.

OUTREACH
Each Wednesday morning we host a community coffee fellowship hour in our Fellowship Hall, and our men also host a men's breakfast each month. We reach out to and partner with community members through numerous other activities.

Our congregation and women's organization are active in local and regional mission organizations through volunteering and financial support. Some of those missions include All Things New, Helping Hands Pantry, Beaman Home, Salvation Army, World Missionary Press and Isaiah 11 Ministry.
Pastor's weekly Bible Study hosts not only congregation members but others in the community. Community "campfires" are held at least once per month at our parsonage during the warm summer months for informal fellowship...sometimes an outdoor movie is added to the evening's activities.
Vacation Bible School is held each July for grade school children, and we have hosted gospel concerts and community meals among other activities.

SISTERHOOD IN FAITH
We celebrate and praise God for the gifts women bring to all levels of our church. We believe Scripture and Christian tradition bear witness to the importance of women and men sharing the responsibility and joy of serving our church as leaders!
The women in our congregation reach out to the community by hosting an annual Easter Egg Hunt and a Trick or Treat event among other events. We also provide the meal for our annual Heritage Sunday celebration and encourage community participation in our May Mother & Daughter Brunch. In the fall the group hosts a Euchre Party and a Chili Cookoff. The group is honored at a special service in June each year.

Our group is an independent sisterhood of Christian women focusing on serving the Kosciusko County community.

Our rummage sale added nearly $1,500 to our local mission fund. Thank you for your support!

We had a wonderful time in Saugatuck, Michigan on the Sisterhood in Faith Bus Trip - August 7th!

We had a very successful rummage sale on June 22nd!

Another great turnout at our annual Trick or Treat event for area children on the evening of October 26th.

Great fun again this year at our Vacation Bible School, Camp Firelight! Twenty children enjoyed the week and all the activities presented by Pastor David and our volunteers! Many, many thanks for all our volunteers...although just a few are shown here, we are grateful for them all! Great job everyone!

Pastor Banning (R) was ordained in the Global Methodist organization at the Convening Conference and Ordination Service for the newly established Global Methodist Church Great Lakes Conference, which includes churches from Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin & Michigan. The ordination took place on October 28 in Washington, Illinois.
Leesburg Methodist Church Pastor Rob Seewald and Mrs. Banning were on hand to witness the ordination. Seewald and Banning are long-time friends, and Seewald participated in the laying of hands for Banning's ordination.

Our last campfire of the 2024 season took place at Kayla & Bill's home on October 19th. Over 40 people enjoyed the outdoor fellowship!

Our Children enjoy special time with Pastor Dave each Sunday morning.
